KIRTAN CHOIR Summary

The Unquestioned Answer – The word “Kirtan” is Sanskrit and covers a practice involving the chanting of hymns, or mantras, to the accompaniment of instruments. True to the origin of their name, Kirtan Choir began the recording of The Unquestioned Answer as a long and intimate improvisation between the cello and bass, played by Barbara Arriaga and CJ Boyd.
Building up a slowly pulsing vibe of late night meditation, the two performers then used their voices and other instruments to add further texture along the way. Part of the recording was subsequently edited and the result is a stunning spiritual three-part journey, a haunting electroacustic catharsis tinged with flights of lyrical cello, dark bass lines, and creases of static, a subtle exploration of the sublime, the transcendent, and the sacred.

The Unquestioned Answer is also avilable on CD from Jeunesse Cosmique
