Our 'Summer Steam 2010' DVD features footage from July & August 2010 and makes up Part 4 to the 2010 Series. The DVD with footage from most days throughout the 2 Month period covers steam trains working to their hearts out throughout the UK.
The 'Summer Steam' DVD covers footage of all the footage we obtained whilst filming in Wales which included the first week of services of 'The Cambrian' this year hauled by LMS 5MT No.44871, the first 'Black 5' to work on the line for several years due to weight restrictions over Barmouth Bridge. Footage is included of the train throughout the week along the very scenic coastal route. Whilst in Wales we also captured footage of the Welsh Highland Railway, Ffestiniog Railway, Fairbourne Railway, Talyllyn Railway and Llangollen Railway. Footage is also included on the DVD of 'The Welsh Mountaineer' rail tour from Preston to Blaenau Ffestiniog, hauled by LMS 8F No.48151 'Gauge O Guild' the train was limited to just 6 coaches due to the inclines on the line.
Throughout the School holidays 'The Scarborough Spa Express' has run, now running to a new route via Normanton and Wakefield a series of engines were used throughout the 7 week period to haul the services. Footage is included from various locations along the route, with all engines captured and footage filmed most days of the season. Another popular tour during the Summer has been 'The Scarborough Flyer' hauled by LMS 8P No.6233 'Duchess Of Sutherland' now carrying a LMS Wartime Black livery and LMS 8P No.6201 'Princess Elizabeth' the train is seen in several different locations from most weeks. A range of mainline tours have run throughout the 2 months including the return of BR 8P No.71000 'Duke Of Gloucester' to the mainline after extensive maintenance and LNER A1 No.60163 'Tornado' after boiler stay troubles both their first tours are included on the DVD. Extensive footage is included on 'The Waverley' tours from York to Carlisle on a Sunday, a wide range of light engines movements and much more.
As well as all the mainline action that has been captured a wide range of preserved railways have been visited including the very popular Foxfield Gala which featured a 18 wagon train up a 1 in 19 gradient, a test for any steam engine. The Great Central Railway held their annual 'Mail By Rail' Gala this year featuring visiting steam engine GWR 4900 'Hall' No.4953 'Pitchford Hall'. During the summer the North Yorkshire Moors Railway ran a series of special dining services from Grosmont to Battersby along the Esk Valley Railway, footage is captured along the route of the trains. Extensive coverage is also included from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway's 'Vintage Train' Weekends featuring Lancashire & Yorkshire No.957 one of the engines used in the famous Railway Children film. Other footage is included from the Middleton Railway, Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway, Ffestiniog Railway, Llangollen Railway, Welsh Highland Railway, Talyllyn Railway and Fairbourne Railway.
