Join UKPN as we investigate Landguard Fort
Landguard Fort has existed, in one form or another, since 1543, and sits on the mouth of the River Orwell in the town of Felixstowe, Suffolk.
Reported paranormal activity includes
Apparitions - Horse & Carriage, a solitary muskateer, a victorian artillary man.
Poltergeist - Airfix models flying off of the shop shelf.
Sounds - A woman screaming (thought to be named Maria) reported to speak in a foreign tongue.
During the second world war the muskateer was seen several times, he is said to have lost his life during a dutch invasion. Dogs are reported to be afraid of the particular ramp where he was seen.
A female worker in the shop reported seeing the Victorian Artillery man step through a wall and smile at her. This is also the area where Airfix kits have apparently flown off the shelves.
Maria is the best known ghost at the fort. A member of a reenactment group was awoken by the cries of a woman. In the mid 18th century, the Fort's paymaster sergant married a portuguese woman named Maria... unliked by the other soldiers they were quick to blame her when a silk handkerchief went missing. Marias husband, convinced his wife was innocent, left the site to find help in proving she was not to blame. On return he was accused of desertion and was executed by the firing squad. Devastated, Maria flung herself from the ramparts to her death... could Maria be the source of the cries that are heard?
On return from a tour of duty a young soldier had picked up a tropcal disease. The medical officer confined the soldier to a room where he later died. Can this soldier still be heard crying?
The bathroom is also reputed to be haunted by a soldier who died when he banged his head on the bath during a practical joke that went wrong, other stories say he was murdered for stealing... will you go to the toilet alone?
In the magazine room it's reported a soldier tied a noose around his neck and hung himself... could he have been the murderer of the man in the bathroom?
With many dark tunnels and many dark rooms... what will we discover? Will we hear the cries of Maria? Will we see the many apparitions reported to haunt the area?
