The shirts are made of cotton material grown and processed in Tanzania.
The tie & dye patterns on the materials are made by the women who attended MIKITA courses 2009-2010. After completion of designing the materials, they use them to sew different designs as requested.
The women also learnt to do embroidery work and knitting which can be added on designs as requested by customers.
They make a variety of products including fashion accessories and other sewn products.
Their aim is to earn a sustainable income every month so as to be able to take care of their dependants and become financially independent. This is very important to them because they have no other legal means to earn an income and their livelihood depends on what they earn by selling the products.
