How to Setup & Manage Categories

Each of your products should be placed within a category. Not only will this help you keep track of all your products but it will help your customers navigate your webstore. If a product is not placed within a category, it will be classed as an Orphaned Product (more info below).

Deleting Categories

• Select Manage Categories from the Main Menu on the left.
• Click on the category you want to remove and click the Delete Category button that appears in the grey box to the right.

Adding Categories

• Select Manage Categories from the Main Menu on the left.
• Ensure no existing categories are selected (or click on the word "Root").
• In the orange New Category Name box at the top-right, enter the name of your new category and click Add.
• Your new category will appear below the Root category level, meaning it is a top-level or parent category, not a sub-category.

Adding Sub-Categories

• Select Manage Categories from the Main Menu on the left.
• Click on the existing category within which you want to create a sub-category.
• In the orange New Category Name box at the top-right, enter the name of your new sub-category and click Add.
• Your new category will appear below its top-level or parent category, slightly indented to the right, denoting it is a sub-category.

Moving Categories

• Select Manage Categories from the Main Menu on the left.
• Use the up and down arrows below the category list to re-order your existing categories. This will only change the order they are displayed on your webstore. This will not change a category into a sub-category or vise versa.
• To change a category into a sub-category or vise versa, simply click on the category you wish to change and drag it to the desired location.

Editing Categories

• Select Manage Categories from the Main Menu on the left.
• Click on the category you want to edit and a grey box will appear to the right.
• Edit the name or description as appropriate and click the Save button below.

Orphaned Products

• Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
• Click on the Filter to select a category
• Select Orphaned Categories at the bottom of the category list. This contains a list of all products that do not currently belong to any category.
• Edit any of these Orphaned Products to assign them to a category using the Product Details page.
