THESE HELP GUIDES RELATE TO THE OLD VERSION OF THE CONTROL PANEL. HELP RELATING TO THE NEW VERSION CAN BE FOUND IN THE "SUPPORT" SECTION OF THE CONTROL PANEL How to Manage Keywords
To help optimise your webstore for search engines, use the Manage Keywords section of the Control Panel to enter a Description and Keywords.
Over the past few years, Keywords appear to have less and less impact on search engine optimisation; a relevant Description which mirrors content on your webstore is more likely to benefit you.
Entering a Description
- Log into your Free Webstore Control Panel and select Manage Keywords from the Main Menu.
- Enter a Description which gives a brief overview of your webstore and your products. Try to include a range of relevant keywords that:
- A) You think potential customers may search for, and;
- B) You are likely to use in your product names, product descriptions and category names.
- C) Match at least some of the Keywords entered below the Description on the Manage Keywords page.
Entering Keywords
- Log into your Free Webstore Control Panel and select Manage Keywords from the Main Menu.
- Enter a list of comma-separated Keywords (e.g. Keyword1, The Second Keyword, 3rd Keyword) which cover your range of products. This could include industry-specific words, product categories, individual products and brand names. Specific keywords have a better chance of performing well when compared to general keywords. For example, “32 inch Plasma Television” is more likely to get results than a generic keyword like “Television”. Try to include a range of relevant keywords that:
- A) You think potential customers may search for, and;
- B) You are likely to use in your product names, product descriptions and category names.
- C) Match at least some of the words in your Description entered above the Keywords on the Manage Keywords page.
