How to Add, Edit & Remove
Products
When you first login to your Control Panel, you will notice that there are already a few Dummy Products on your webstore. These are simply there to show you how your webstore will look when products are listed. The first thing you'll want to do is remove them...
Removing Products
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product you want to remove and click the Delete link in the left-hand column.
Adding Products
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Click the orange Add Product link at the top-right.
- Here is a list of the available options and a bit of info about each one:
- Product Name - Enter a name for product.
- Change Image - Click this to upload an image for the product.
- Product Code - If you opt to use product codes, feel free to enter one.
- Brand / Manufacturer - Select a brand or manufacturer from the list or click the Add link to add a new one.
- Product Category - Add the product to one or more categories (Hold down the Ctrl key to select more than one).
- Stock Quantity - If you have a limited number of the product available, enter the remaining stock here.
- Unit Price - Enter the cost of the product.
- Product Weight - If you want to determine postage costs based on weight, enter it here.
- Custom Postage - For use only if you want to override your default postage rules just for this product.
- Product Description - Type in a description of the product here.
- Featured Product checkbox - Ticking this box will class the products as Featured, which will cause it to display on your Home page. The number of Featured Products that will be displayed is set via the Preferences page.
- Disable Checkout checkbox - Ticking this box will display your product on your webstore but customers will not be able to purchase it.
- Once you are happy with everything, click the Save button at the top-right.
Editing Products
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product you want to edit and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- See the Adding Products section above for more information about each option.
- There is one addition to the Edit Product page - Hide Product. This will allow you to remove the product from your webstore while leaving it in your Control Panel for future use.
How to Add Product Options
Product Options can be set to allow your customers to pick from a range of options related to the product. First you must attach an Option Group to your product (such as Colour) and then you much set the Individual Options to the group (such as red, green, blue etc.).
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product for which you want to add options and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- Select Product Options from the sub-menu on the right.
- To add a new Option Group, click on the product name and hover your mouse pointer over the New Option button.
- New Blank Option creates a new option with 3 individual details.
- My Templates allows you to choose from your previously saved option templates.
- Common Templates allows you to choose from a preset selection of commonly-used product options such as Shoe Size or Gift Wrapping.
How to Setup Option Groups
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product for which you want to add options and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- Select Product Options from the sub-menu on the right.
- Click on an existing Option Group and a box will appear to the right.
- Option Group Name – Enter the name of the option group here (e.g. Colour).
- Force Option – Placing a tick here will force customers to select an option from this group before being able to purchase the product.
- Option Enabled – Tick this box to enable this group of options.
- Add ‘My Template’ – Ticking this box will store the details of this group for future use on other products.
- Click Remove Option to delete the whole Option Group.
- Click Save when you are happy with everything.
How to Setup Individual Options
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product for which you want to add options and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- Select Product Options from the sub-menu on the right.
- Click on an existing Individual Option and a box will appear to the right.
- Choice Text – Enter the name of the option here (e.g. Red).
- Additional Cost – If this option adds to the overall cost of the product, enter the additional cost amount here.
- Default Choice – Tick this box to make this Individual Option the initially selected option.
- Click Delete this Choice to delete this Individual Option.
- Click Save when you are happy with everything.
Special Offers
Use this page to set Special Offers on individual products. To set a product on Special Offer:
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product for which you want to add Special Offers and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- Select Special Offers from the sub-menu on the right.
- Tick a box next to the type of Special Offer you wish to use. You may only have one selected.
- No Discount – No Special Offer on this product.
- Special Offer Price – If you opt to use this, enter the new Special Offer price of the product.
- Price Discount % - If enabled, this allows you to enter percentage amount that will be discounted from the total price of the product.
- Once you have completed setting up the Special Offer, click Save.
Related Products
Use this section to setup relationships between products. When a customer is viewing the details of a product, any Related Products will also be displayed on the page.
How to Setup Product Relationships
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product to which you want to add Related Products and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- Select Related Products from the sub-menu on the right.
- The tree on the left holds all your products.
- The tree on the right shows all the products that are currently related to the product you are editing.
- To add a Related Product, click on the desired related product in the left tree and click the Arrow pointing to the right tree.
- To remove a Related Product, click on the existing related product in the right tree and click the Arrow pointing to the left tree.
Related Products in this way only affects the product you are currently editing. It does not affect any of the products to which you are relating.
Example: If Product A has two Related Products - Product B and Product C - they will display on Product A’s details page. However, Product B and Product C’s details pages will not show any Related Products at all. Each product must have its own Related Products explicitly set.
Additional Images
To add Additional Images to a product:
- Select Manage Products from the Main Menu on the left.
- Find the product to which you want to add Additional Images and click the Edit link in the right-hand column.
- Click the Add Images link.
- You can add images in a number of ways. You can:
- Enter the URL of the image.
- Upload a new image.
- Select an image from your Product Gallery.
