A Man in Moccasins
by Ruari Maclean

A thirteen-year-old apprentice shoemaker sings to his mother on her deathbed as his alcoholic father looks on. Years later, he travels to Canada and meets Annie, a beautiful young American. Together they settle on the Prairie, and almost immediately become accepted for their outstanding shoemaking skills by the indigenous population.

A Man in Moccasins is a remarkable true story about the importance of family – exploring how we all learn to define ourselves in an ever changing world.

“A remarkable true story about Canada's struggle to define itself as a new nation.”

Once I started this book I didn t want to put it down. If we all lived our lives like the Maclean family the world would be a better place. The story is very relevant for the world today. A great true story. A very good read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this epic family saga. The hardship of these early pioneers, the simple moral compass and common sense way of living by the Indian tribes should be an example to all of us. Very well written and a fascinating family history. Well done Ruari on your first novel.
