No Brainer BEC

If you have crawled for a while and noticed your steering is weaker than you think it should be, it might be due to the often weak BEC that is included in most electronic speed controls.

One fix for that is to run an external BEC. Sometimes you don't have the time or equipment needed to solder in an external BEC, so I am offering an external BEC that is really easy to install.

It is small and quite efficient as it uses a switch mode voltage regulator to step down the voltage.

The No Brainer BEC has an adjustable output which is set by adjusting a ten turn control.  It comes preset at 6 volts, but if you send me a message, I can preset it to another voltage.

Have two devices that you want to run from BEC power?  Click the option to choose the Dual Channel version of the No Brainer BEC!

Installation:
To use it, the BEC gets plugged in between your receiver and steering servo. The battery connector gets plugged in between your battery and ESC. That's it!

Now the BEC that is built into the ESC only powers the receiver and the steering servo will get its power from the external BEC.

Your steering servo can work harder and your ESC can relax a little as it doesn't have to put up with the high current load from steering.

NOTE: RC Truck Stop has a review of the No Brainer BEC.

No Brainer gives me piece of mind - Rick - Monday, July 4, 2022
Ok this is installed on a Axial SCX6. Most people know the stock steering servo is pretty much lacking. Enter the No Brainer module. So it allows you to bypass the ESC. Power direct to the steering servo. The No Brainer has all the necessary connections. You will need to attach your preferred battery connector. Mine came adjusted for 6v. Basically the same as the ESC. I did notice my steering servo was already behaving better. Less voltage drop. I adjusted it to 7.4v. At this voltage it was much better. I use 3s batteries in parallel so the No Brainer can be adjusted higher. I did try 8.4v. Definitely 40kg servo on that much voltage. I don t recommend this but it worked through several crawls. I included pics of where on the SCX6 it s installed. Still can get to the adjustment screw if needed. Conclusion, the No Brainer has allowed me to wait on buying a real steering servo. Excellent kit
