Shimmery hosiery gives the entire leg a luster that can be seen from most angles, and under normal lighting conditions, or brighter. Companies and brands will often use the words, glitter, sparkle, sheen, or gloss. The overall intent is the same. They might have unique techniques and technology, but ultimately, they are trying to convey that their products are shiny.

All normal pairs of hosiery that are not matte or shimmery will shine a tiny amount under normal lighting conditions, or brighter.

The opposite of shimmery hosiery is matte hosiery. Under normal lighting, or darker, matte hosiery will not shine at all. Under very bright light, matte hosiery will have a thin bright shine that reflects right back at the source, but the rest of the leg will not shine much, if at all.
