The new Silks hosiery typically has a 5 digit style number. Check the back of the package for fine print to confirm that you are buying Doris Hosiery Mills products.

The old and new Silks differ in the amounts of nylon and Lycra. This will affect how the garment stretches and how it feels.

They also differ in length. Typically, Phantom's products are shorter than Doris's products. Doris's products typically are long enough that if you hold a pair of their hosiery in front of you, and if you keep the gusset at the height of your crotch, then the hosiery toe might touch your ankle. Doris's products typically grip the skin so well that they do not slide down very easily, even when you wear a short or long pair.

Doris's products, and perhaps some of Phantom's products, are really like a second skin: grips well on the inside and silky on the outside. The grip helps it to not slide down, which allows for an even texture and appearance, after you spread it out on your legs. The grip also allows for an adjustable panty portion. You do not have to stretch it to keep it up.

They also differ in width. Doris's products, except for the plus size styles, tend to be for slim and average sized people.
