After the first local live appearances in 2009, LEVIATHAN released their first EP “From The Desolate Inside” in the following year. The EP received great reviews all through Europe and was also voted “Demo of the month” in the well-known German METAL HAMMER Magazine. Adding to the success of the EP, the five-piece was also booked for SUMMER BREEZE OPEN AIR in the very same year and was voted into the Top-5 newcomers at the festival's New Blood Award.
In 2011 the band continued to make their way by signing their first record-deal. The cologne-based label BRET HARD RECORDS signed LEVIATHAN and released the the concept-albums “Beyond The Gates of Imagination Pt.1” and “The Aeons Torn – Beyond The Gates Of Imagination Pt. II” in the next two years. After great reviews and initially very strong sales, both releases unfortunately were stopped by the insolvency of the labels distributor TWILIGHT, leaving the band with serious financial losses and an uncertain future. Burned out by the difficult situation and the problems with the label, all members agreed to postpone all activities and take a break.
Originally intended as a short breather, the break quickly turned into an undefined hiatus that left the future of LEVIATHAN very uncertain. But in June 2016 the members were finally reunited at one table, when a dedicated fan from the U.S.A. came to Europe to meet his favourite bands. On visiting Bonn he asked also for a meeting with the five-piece and thereby got the band to sit down at one table for the first time since 2013. A fun evening at a local bar quickly turned into serious talks about a full reunion in order to mark the 10th anniversary of the band in 2017.
To celebrate this milestone of their career, the five-piece started work on a new album in the summer of 2017, which will be released in early 2018. Further a special show is currently being planned for January 2018 to celebrate the anniversary, with more concerts already booked for the remainder of the year. So be prepared, because LEVIATHAN is finally back!
