Health Benefits
Since World War II, scientists and medical researchers have become increasing interested in traditional, natural health products, such as noni juice, since they recognize there are health values in many of these ancient foods.
In this they associate with the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates, who lived over 2000 years ago in Greece and said, "Let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food!" Today we might say it a different way, "You are what you eat."
Ancient Hawaiians planted foods for health. Among the plants they grew was the noni fruit, Morinda citrifolia.
Growing
Botanically the fruit is called: Morinda Citrifolia. It grows on a shrub type tree and the size of the fruit is about the same size as a medium avocado pear. The skin has warts on it similar to a pomegranate. The shrub shows fruit some 10 months after planting. It reaches maturity in about 18 months and then yields between 4 to 8kg of fruit every month, all year round.
Sprouting
Soak 1-2 days in water. Then clip 1/16 of an inch from the top of the Noni seed speeds up the germination process and makes it sprout faster. Plant Noni Seeds in 3 inches of dirt, and cover with 3 more inches of dirt. Place in a sunny location. Keep moist but not water logged. Sprouts will appear in 4-6 weeks. When the taproot reaches bottom of container, it is time to replant. Can be grown in gallon containers or transplanted into the ground. Starts to make fruit 10 months after planting.
