Agios Giorgios, Mystras
£37.50
The East Range of the Clare Old Court buildings shown here to the left was completed just before the start of the civil war in 1638 making it a fine example of Jacobean architecture. The whole court is of a honey coloured limestone which I suppose must have been brought up the Cam in boats, presumably from Lincolnshire. The Chapel to the right is Georgian, begun construction in 1763, a very pleasant calm piece of Corinthian classical with a rather fine arched plaster ceiling inside.
