The Gate Tower at Jesus was remodelled at the time of the College's founding in 1496 when the Bishop of Ely obtained royal consent to convert the priory of St Radegund into a new College. It is therefore original and quite early Tudor. Both the Bishop's and the King's arms are prominently displayed above the entrance as you would expect. Otherwise the style is restrained, especially compared to Trinity and Johns, and gives a foretaste of a very restrained place, ideal for peaceful study, as I can attest.
