Agios Giorgios, Mystras
£37.50
The Main Court of Cats was largely built at the end of the 1600s with the Chapel completed in 1704, just as Marlborough was taking his army to Bavaria to turn the War against Louis XIV on its head. Later additions to it have been carried out so sympathetically that it appears as a whole. The style of the buildings is the work of a little known master builder, Robert Grumbold, who had worked in Cambridge under Wren, and it is best descibed as Queen Anne in feel and character. Unusually the court is only three sided, being open to the East facing Trumpington St.
